MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
I am a 36-year-old journalist working with the New Vision, the biggest English newspaper in Uganda as a senior sub-editor. I hold a bachelors degree in mass communication from Uganda Christian University, having graduated in October 2009. My journalism career started in 2008 when I was an intern reporter at Step FM in Mbale district, eastern Uganda.
At Step FM, I used to gather and write news stories of events in the Elgon sub-region. After graduating in 2009, I joined The East African newspaper as a freelance reporter. At the East African newspaper, my work involved writing news stories and taking photos of local events that are relevant to the East African region.
In January 2011, I joined the UCU Standard as the editor. The UCU Standard is a newspaper run by Uganda Christian University to train journalism students. My role here involved mentoring students in practical journalism.
In 2012, I joined New Vision as a junior sub-editor and I have since become senior sub-editor. In this position, my roles include:
