Mouttasem is a science and health reporter. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and post-grad diplomas in biochemistry and bioinformatics. He has contributed to publications ranging from Scidev.net, Scientific American, Vice News, and Popular Science. He has also served as an editor of Scientific Arab, and a public information officer at Children’s cancer hospital in Egypt 57357. In 2021 he was one of five journalists to receive The EurekAlert fellowship for international science reporter.  His writings on science and Health for regional and international media outlets have covered topical issues including public health, precision medicine, and health policy.
